People are always talking about making lists of adventurous things they'd like to accomplish during their lifetime. Here's my list, and what follows are notes about what I'm currently up to.
Started: Start and end my day with prayer each day for a yearJune 2, 2008
Prayer is something I often struggle with. Not because it's hard, but because I never seem to prioritize it very well among the other things of life. I guess that's where the term
spritual discipline comes from. Hopefully this will be a year of growth. I've paired this goal with reading through the Bible in a year.
Started: Read the Bible in a yearJune 2, 2008
This is something that I've always wanted to do, so I'm glad to finally be doing it. My plan is to read for about 20 minutes in the morning and 20 minutes at night.
Accomplished: No pop for a year June 1, 2008
Last June I decided I'd try to go a year without drinking pop, and as of today, I've succeeded! It was harder than I thought -- it seems like an eon ago that I last had any! I grew up drinking the stuff on a regular basis and it's amazing how, in the right context, you can really crave the stuff. Many afternoons at work I would normally have a can of pop, and it got to the point last year that I was having two cans a day. The problem is, it's not good for your teeth, and for me personally it tends to make me feel really low energy by 5:30 if I drink a pop in the middle of the afternoon and don't have anything else to eat.
I have to admire people who aren't even tempted by pop... that would be nice!
